Well, I'll go with Nacht on this one. The event was to recognize a thing. You can lobby Laura and her husband anytime you want, and believe me there is a constant gaggle of losers with picket signs standing outside their window. But, hijacking an event because you have an issue with the host = poor taste.
Personally, I would have let the thing continue, and simply warn everyone that anti-war BS would get them yanked and tossed arse-first. The government is free to reasonably limit the "time, place, and manner" of your free speech.
Besides, not all poets would appreciate the namby-pamby voice folks hijacking an event honoring poetry.
