Lets agree that unions fight for rights of workers. But workers are only a small part of the society. Unions dont fight for unemployed, for new technologies, for environment. They want to keep status quo - all members have work and they are happy.
This is problem in Argentina nd Poland as well. Unions are two strong and destroys country. They block and change of law that will allow to decrease unemployment, they dont want to resign their privilages. They dont see that this ruin their place of work their country.
They call for money: for free days, better medicine, higher pays and lower prices and weak goverments gave them money. They dont care that all other people have to finanse them.
I am in awe how Margaret Thatcher solved problems with miners in late 70-ties in UK. In Poland unions are too strong and government too weak. All society has to pay billions of dollars for minimng industry - I say let blast them.
Argentina - unions are strong and dictate many things - now Argentina is a bancrupt.
Unions fight for themselves only. Not for workers and unemployed - for themselves only. Workers in small companies are not strong enough to change anything, in big national companies they are worse than mafia. They destabilize country just because they think someone want to take something from them.

Pets - do you believe that people are really superior? What reasoning ? I cant agree that animals can not catch connection between punishment and crime - they can. The problem is that people dont want to behave like they understood. They dont care that other people also want to live. They cant feed themselves but want to have 5 or 8 children. They produce more and more wastes.
Look around - who feels responsible? Parents feel responsible for children. Are you sure that "fathers" of your city can be fully trusted? Do you believe that the Parlament of your country works to got better world?
They are people, they their carriers and places owe from unions, parties. They are loyal to their local communities, their organizations. They wants to realize their particular interests.
