"Greed" is NOT the same thing as enlightened self-interest. "Prejudice" is a very long standing part of the human condition, dating back to well before the origination of modern capitalism or communism.
"Consuming" is what drives the economies of the world. People buy things that they perceive that they need or want. Other people have jobs to make those things. If people are "consuming" less, then fewer people are working to make those things. Fewer people working creates economic recessions or depressions. What sort of drug-induced dream world are you living in, comrade? If people were "responsible enough" to need no government, there'd be no racism or prejudice. And who's gonna pay for the schools? Who's gonna make certain that working conditions are safe? Who's gonna protect the people from the criminals? (Oh, I suppose that there's gonna be no crime? Not a chance!!!) Those are things that governments do!!! Mind you, I'm not exactly a big fan of big government. I tend to think of it as a necessary evil. But there are things that government IS needed to do.
