I'm wondering somethin, does the difficulty level do things other than just change the damage amounts? Different people seem to observe drasticly different behaviors from the same creatures, or completely different creatures in the same areas. For example, there is a post a page or so down about someone having trouble with "Iron Golems" in the heart of the Planar Sphere.
Maybe its just me, but all I've ever seen in there is a party of three Adamantine Golems and six Stone Golems, pus another group of two stones and an adamantine in one of the other rooms. In the Windspear Hills there are four Adamantine Golems and 8 Stone Golems total. In fact there are far more Adamantines in the game than Irons. I've can only remember four Irons in the game. One at De Arnise, and a total three in Suldenesellar, compared to six Adamantines there. I play only on the highest difficulty if that has something to do with it, but I'm sure it has always been Adamantines even way back when I was playing on the easy setting.
Then there's the fact that people talk about the Beholder city in the Underdark like they just breeze through it, but when I play it there are about 35-40 Gauths in there not counting the random ones for sleeping, plus at least twenty something Beholders and four to six Elder Orbs. This happened every time I played the game. When you walk into the lower right of the main chamber there is literally a WALL of Beholders, Gauths and two Elder Orbs sitting there waiting. When I play solo my character levels up at least once and usually two or three times in that one quest. Plus I've noticed that sometimes the number will fluctuate btween reloads. You might walk into a group of ten guys one time, die and reload, then go back and it only be five or six.
Well, if anyone else noticed some of these things lets hear it, because its annoying to read about Iron Golems in the Planar Sphere when I've never seen less than Adamantines in there, and they are each about as strong as every Iron Golem in the game combined...
