Cheerleading starts earlier than that in my experience Morgeruat. They have cheerleaders for pee-wee football, here anyway, which puts them in the 6-12 range.
And ditto on Morgeruat's practical method of dealing with school-sponsored activities you disapprove of. It's certainly faster, and has the added bonus of not imposing your will on others (other than your kid, but after you pull her out of the squad she won't be speaking to you anyway).
I'd like to hear from our president on this one. He can speak from experience as a cheerleader right?
