Recent geo-political moves have made it become consiered a part of Europe It has different cultural values and traditions i think. Not trying to be defensive, but even given Michael Moore's hyperbole, the US does seem to have a larger problem with gun crime than most, comparable nations, i.e. without on-going internal conflicts, developed and stable government e.t.c.
