Is it just me, or does this sound like a page from Rousseau with all the accompanying sinister implications...for a government to claim that it knows what the people
really want opens up a whole can of worms.
I have to disagree with his desire to see things through to the bitter end however, think of the cost. Still, with luck, even Bush will have to wake up to the deficit which should constrain him from doing anything too drastic.
