I think you guys may be missing out on the fact that a great deal of Catholics respect a lot of the principles of the faith, but NOT its stance on abortion. Most practicing Catholics I know do not hold rigid to every belief the Vatican dictates. In fact, some of them even supported Gallileo as far back as 50 years ago, when he was still considered an ex-communicated heretic for suggesting the Earth was not the center of the universe. Most Catholics I know recognize that the faith lags light years behind the times on many issues.
But, hey, who's for a rousing rendition of "Every Sperm Is Sacred"?
