I hear what you are saying Link, but the comparison still doesn't work. Hitler had all those powers you speak of, but Bush simply does not. Bush cannot act without consequence and is not the ultimate word on the US. Yes he is powerful, but he isn't the sole word on US internal and external policies.

Point taken. Bush may have to answer to the Senate, Bush may not have the allpowerful authority Hitler may have had, but saying that there's a restraint in Bush's ability to make decisions that are way beyond his league does not mean that both leaders were at the top of the food chain in their country. The fact that they have to 'answer' to someone or some political organ does not take away that position, or that ability to govern. In the end, Bush is able enough to work around the restraint anyway.
While the comparison Bush - Hitler may not be as drastic as my earlier post may have led to believe, I sincerely think the comparison to be valid.

As much as I'd like to believe that Bush has no actual power due to his lack of charisma, modern day politics doesn't work quite that way, I believe. Insert charisma, and the machine will shine a bit more, productivity may rise due to well oiled parts, but the amount of power coming from the machine doesn't change one bit (I just have to be the member with the weirdest metaphors )

I may be derailing the topic a bit by going from Hitler to Bush to my objections to the American political system, but it was just something I had to say.
