Davros remembers a woderful gun debate (probably in your absence Ray), where it was proposed that government nowadays is by public opinion and that it is public opnion that is all important. The point of the argument being that the 2nd constitution rights which purport to arm the populace such that they have the potential for populist overthrow of a corrupt government become outdated and defunct when the power of public opinion is so firmly vested in the people and they have thepower to choose administrations. At that time, I remember the "rightists" arguing that public opinion was unimportant and something that it was easy for a rogue administration to ride roughshod over.

I just wanted you to know that I support your argument that public opinion makes a huge difference .
