First, it's Women's Herstory Month (which even I think is a bit extreme... It's just a coincidence that "History" starts with "His" but I digress)
What's important is the fact that for more or less the rest of the year you hear men in history being celebrated and rarely women, except for a few token figures (Rosa Parks is one... She gets triple coverage. But I digress again. How about Betsy Ross? God, give me a break. How pathetic. And FDR was great, sure, but his wife gets almost no press besides)
I guess it's just that men in history seem to get all the coverage. It's important to remember that there were many great women as well.
If you go to high school, chances are they shove famous women down your throat this month. If you go to college, stop by a program. Make a mental note of several names and see if you ever hear of them the rest of the year.
