The dudes that are on you in a second are the enemy pawns. Summon monsters to keep them off your back lines. I try not to HAVE to do anything; but, this will save your poor AC types. To end this fight asap, you have to get the opponent's king to appear, and of course kill him. Once you kill the king, game over. I don't know what exact circumstances it takes to make him appear, sorry. I tend to kill to get max XP. You don't get any extra XP for killing him early. You need to get someone in thier back line and start taking 'em out. Get those archers out of there + disrupt the spell slingers. While your tank is taking out the back row, the king will appear.
Oh, I forgot my favorate tactic for the ones with the big mouths - While I'm leaning over them, removing the valuables from thier still quivering, smoking, hissing bodies, I like to say "Uh... I'm sorry; but, what was that you said again?"

"Remember this day. Remember it well. Then you can say, I was there that night with Arthur the king. For it is the doom of men that they forget"
