skywalker - To get back to the original topic of this thread, I agree partly with MagiK that the ad is dissing Howard Dean specifically - but I also agree with you that it disses Vermont in general too. I have to admit that couldn't help but laugh at a couple of the adjectives they used. I mean "Hollywood loving" and "body piercing" are about the LAST TWO adjectives I would think to apply to anybody from Vermont. I don't know if they drink a lot of latte's and Timber already explained why driving Volvo's is a good choice for those that live there. All in all, though, I can certainly understand why the ad would make you mad and I felt it was in extremely bad taste. Like MagiK implied, the ad was SO over-the-top that it almost made me want to vote for Dean - just out of spite. Please note, though, that I did say almost. Don't want to get your hopes up too high. But I do agree the ad is ignorant and inflammatory and in very bad taste.

Timber - I agree with you about President Bush's spending habits. I really don't see any reason to expect him to change during his second term, if he should be re-elected. I'm not sure what his spending habits were in Texas, but I do remember that he was the CEO of one of the financial institutions that crashed and burned during the Savings & Loan Scandal in the late 80's (before he became Governor of Texas). It is also no secret that he does owe a lot of allegiance to his corporate sponsors.

On the other hand, I do believe that President Bush is a man of deep convictions and integrity and I would hope that more of those qualities would present themselves if he were elected to second term..since he would no longer have to worry about pleasing the powers that helped put him in office.
