Erm, on the point that the US army is too powerful for even an armed popular revolt -- let us not forget that many of the soldiers will join the ranks of the revolutionaries.

Jefferson felt that a popular revolt was needed ever 20 to 50 years in society. I'm with him on that. Peace leads to too much overpopulation.
