Lying by omission is a big gray area. On one hand, you're not saying an untrue word. On the other, you could be misleading someone intentionally. Some say being misled is the questioners fault for not asking the right questions and drawing conclusions. Some say when you answer a question, you are morally and ethically bound to convey the full meaning of the truth to your best ability. I used to think that lying by omission was OK. I have since changed my mind and decided that the only two moral ways to answer something are with the full truth to the best of your ability, or to remain silent on the issue. You do not have the obligation to answer a question, just the obligation to answer it truthfully if you decide to.
