You are right Luvian. If the US pulls out now it will look like a retreat/defeat to muslim hardliners and Westerner's who opposed the war. If the US had just dismantled the country and then left, we would be accused of hate mongers and uncaring. In other words if you opposed the war then anything the US did would be a sinister plot.
