I can tell you why. Football doesn't have the natural breaks that American sports have. So you can't have adverts shown on the TV. I remember being in the US once when they were palying Trinidad in a World Cup qualifier. The TV station stopped for an ad break and when they came back the commentator saud: 'While you were away this happened' and they proceded to show the only game of the match.

One of the few occasions when the US play as a team against foreign opposition is the Ryder Cup. Multi millionaires play for nothing. Do they care about the match? They care more and feel more pressure than when they paly in any of the majors. You can't imagine how much you miss by not playing international sporting competitions.

And let's face it - the only reason you don't care about the World Cup is that you are rubbish at football! (Please note the smiley )
