Music Continues After Festival Injuries One Man Sent Into Cardiac Arrest
WASHINGTON -- Alternative rock fans will return to RFK stadium today after 30 people were injured last night in a mosh pit stampede.
The crowd at the HFSstival got out of hand as rapper Eminem was performing at about 8 p.m. Saturday.
A 20-year-old man went into cardiac arrest and was taken to a hospital. witnesses say many people weren't aware he had fallen and kept on dancing near the front of the crowd.
Eminem was reportedly urging the crowd to move back when it happened.
Four other people were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. The rest were treated at the scene for broken bones and bruises.
The event is the 12th annual music festival hosted by WHFS-FM.
D.C. fire spokesman Alan Etter said the people treated after the stampede were just a fraction of the number that paramedics saw at yesterday's concert. Police and emergency officials were at RFK Sunday, but officials said they did not expect more incidents.
