Usually this happens when the golem is busy unlocking the doors, but I've never seen it happen otherwise. If no one else has a suggestion and you don't want to start over then here's something you can try:

Save your game and then have a thief try to pickpocket the golem. Keep reloading and retrying until you're successful. The golem actually has in its possession a key that will unlock necessary doors in the dungeon. You can also use this key. You'll miss out on a few XPs, but at least you can continue on.
