Would you really, Neb? If you didn't study literature and learn how to dissect it, how would you learn to think critically, and write meaningful commentaries? If you didn't study history how would you understand the present? If you didn't study maths equations and science, how would you learn to think laterally, and consider problems from many angles? I would say you don't have a clue about what you need to be ready for university, or life for that matter.

know you won't need any of these 'useless' euqations? Are you psychic? You've never been an adult living in the adult world, how can you say what you need to know? Yes you might need them if you choose a field that requires them - and believe me there are lot more fields in which you'll need maths than you might think. But even if you don't, why would you choose to be ignorant when you can have all the knowledge that is offered? Why would you want to know less than you can know?
Yes, maybe teachers could teach better. Maybe the curriculum needs updating, and assessment should span a wider variety of mediums. Things are changing. But change takes time. And I would wager that having people like you, so apathetic about learning and desperate to get out of there would hinder their ability to be enthusiastic about what they're teaching, and make their students enthusiastic too, don't you?
