rofl - this discussion is getting a bit ridiculous. Well, Rikky, back 1200 years ago neither *our* language nor *your* language was anything near what it is today. Actually, I think that's even before the time German and French separated... right? So, let's not bring history into this, even a few hundred years ago the various languages were much different from what they are today.
Actually, I think we Germans can draw various African countries into this too... shall we call it a draw? (although I agree on the Swiss/Austrian part, you might lump Bavaria in there too
)
EDIT: And before anybody starts arguing about accents, I'm from Göttingen, which - I do believe - belongs to that tiny, tiny part of Germany that speaks proper Hochdeutsch, not some dialect! [img]tongue.gif[/img]
