Well, I agree that it'll be good for you to make friends whom you feel positive hanging around with. And if you like doing something, it's probably your strength/asset so don't give it up.

But I'd just like to add that there's no need to burn your bridges completely either. Try to meet new friends whom you can have a good time with, and slowly drift apart from this current set of friends (once in a while, you can still chat with them). I say this because in the long term, you never know if you'll have to bump into them (or even work for them) again. No point antagonising the relationship needlessly.
