Ahh, you misunderstand! There is NEVER only ONE topic allowable at at time at Cloudy's! LOL If you are in an interesting chat but have to go, bring it up again if you like! Doesn't matter when! And if two people are discussing Dungeon Siege but you want to talk to someone else (same time) about how much you hate fish or love ducks, then do so! If you see the first post of every Cafe thread, you'll note that multiple conversations are not only allowed, but expected! This is a CAFE!
How many cafe's would have ONLY one topic being discussed by all the customers?
Well, I had been thinking about starting a series of threads to do just this (allow lots of tiny chats and comments that would be excessive if interrupting other threads or silly if all by themselves as a thread ) but hadn't gotten around to doing it til one day I was talking with RudeDawg and he insisted I start... so I did!
the Cafe threads have been around a long time now and sometimes they fill up in a day, sometimes it takes 3 or 4 days, just depends on who's around and who feels like talking!
Kaz and Lioness act as 'waitresses' here and have been wonderful at moving things along or making a new thread if I'm away and we go over 125-150 (Ziroc likes us to keep it around there). Neb's been helpful that way as have many others. I like to keep an eye on it but somedays I'm not able to be here when the chatterboxes get going!
Genuine 'spam' is not allowed. By which I mean one word or gibberish posts that disrupt friendly banter or hurtful/mean posts which aren't allowed anyplace on IW. Nor is roleplaying/rp fighting etc. Roleplaying goes to the RP forum. Small things like the 'atmosphere' of a cafe are ok- ie: if you say you're having coffee and Jerome sweeps your feet out from under you, you can say you spilled it.. LOL But no all out RP game style postings. This is a real life zone.
If you want to just say HI! and work up a little talk before work or ask how people are doing, get a recipe or advice on what color tie to wear- this is the place to do it! Many people peek in and some post once in a while, others will stay for the day and still others are regulars.
I know sometimes people have the same problem you described- they liked a topic and it's not being discussed when they get back or there are pages and pages of a few people goofing off.. but hopefully we can get the word out that EVERYONE is welcome and everyone here should try and make each other feel that way when we post.
So, if you're chatting away with a few pals and a new face arrives, stop to say hi before you continue chatting!
