Oh, and Cloudykins, it hangs to the back - always has and always will. That way the friction factor works for you - pulling down and away frees the roll from contact with the wall, then stopping to tear re-stablishes that contact. Far too easy to suffer a premature tear when you hang away from the wall, particularly in the early life of the roll when the contact area with the wall is the greatest.
