Linux is catching up as a games platform. With the Xfree86 pproject nearing completion we now have a package equivalent to DirectDraw, and we have MESA to handle the Direct3D part of it. DirectSound stilll has no equivalent and sound on linux is still a joke. More importantly, we dont have a unified network interface like DirectPlay.

M$ got a massive advantage since they have total control over Windows - and they can play with a budget thats bigger than that of some countries. All we need for Linux to match windows is one big developer thats willing to work on it without trying to dominate the OS.
