Happy St. Georges day!
Bastet is the correct form. Cat-goddess and local deity of the town Bubastis, her name means 'she of the ointment jar'. She was daughter of the Sun god and a protective aspect of the mother goddess (as opposed to the aggressive lioness-headed Sekhmet). Earliest depictions are on stone vessels and date from c.2890 BC (2nd Dynasty, rule of Hetepsekhemwy) and were found at Saqqara.
Hehe Thanks for the correction Most of my egyptian gods knowledge came from the Deities and Demigods book from the early 1st edition of AD&D and from StarGate SG1 of course oh and a couple of less than complete mythology books
