Getting stopped at a roadblock in the desert by a bunch of heavily armed kids not in uniform, wondering if they were going to protect you or shoot you? Riots in Cairo and students shot dead on the streets? Being targetted by the demonstration in protest at the student killings? Hearing that the overnight train we took was passed over in favour of a coach on the road alongside and the coach guards dragged off and shot dead in front of the passengers?
