Well, I know that I for one didn't delete it, and neither did Memnoch. Neither of us delete threads unless they contain pornographic content or the threads are pure *SPAM* (which this one wasn't). So that leaves Ziroc and Grand Ranger as the only ones who could have deleted the thread.

Now, since Ziroc has been occupied with his family situation as of late, he would more than likely not have been the one to do this...not to mention that "Z" doesn't usually go around deleting threads for no good reason (or an explanation afterward).

I think we can all figure out where the thread went to.

quote:
Sorry Barry, I don't really agree with that. OK, he started the thread, but there were many participants - all of whom had apart in creating the discussion. If GR did delete it without giving any warning (I'm not saying he did of course, I don't know what happened with it) that would have been hugely unfair to all the other participants who had helped to create it - and to whom it therefore also 'belonged' if you see what I mean. I don't think it's right.
JMHO.

I think Epona has summed up the situation very correctly and I agree wholeheartedly. This is particularly why we DON'T delete threads at IW as a general rule; if anything, we lock them down, and only when the discussion has gotten so far out of hand that it is escalating into a flame war. But we lock them rather than delete them so that if there are any good points in the thread, they can be copied and pasted to form another thread. Here was a thread filled with great points and they have all been lost.

And here, for one, is ONE moderator who is lobbying for the removal of the ability for regular members to delete posts and threads.
