I DID IT! My time was 38 minutes, 26.11 sec! Many thanks to all who wished me luck. The morning was cold but fair, no ice on the street but some frost on the grass. I started out steady, then picked up the pace to a 6 min/mile. At the halfway mark, I got a stitch in my side and had to slow down, but controlled it with deep breathing. At the 6 mile mark, they had a banner that said, "If you were running a 6 mile race, this would be the finish line." Hilarious, I don't think. I put my head down then and really sprinted. As I crossed the finish line, my family was there to greet me, so we had happy, sweaty hugs. Thamks again, all. I thought about the things that you said when it got tough. P.S. I placed fourth in my age group.
