Newbie bashing isn't, well, new.

It's actually age old in reallife, unfortunately. New members to any group are expected to contribute seldom and only in a very respectful manner. It's discussed in the bylaws of medieval Eurpopean guilds, and in the instructions given by citywise nobility in 17th century Paris to their country cousins come to visit the capitol. Today, it occurs a great deal in online multiplayer games, especially smaller ones whose membership remains relatively stagnant. When everybody knows everybody, the newcomer stands out, and has to prove themselves--rightly, or wrongly.
