where did you fight him this time? was it near the end of the game at the tree of life or whatever, or inside the asylum, or somewhere else? as for why it says can't rest monsters are about... have any of your characters had spells cast on them that makes them evil? if you can't control one of your characters, they are victims of something, and whatever it is might cause the monsters warning. if you summoned creatures and didn't cast a protection against evil spell the creatures you summoned might be trying to hurt you even if you're far away, go back and kill them if this is the case. these may not be the problems... i once had that monster warning and it drove me nuts, and then it just went away but i'm not sure which of the things i did made it dissapear.

by the way, it could be the patch, but i'm not sure cause i didn't put any patches in my game.
