0 - 1000 = -1000
-1000 + 40 = -960
-960 + 1000 = 40

2090 + 10 = 2100
now of course i'm taking the wording " take first of all, 1000" to mean take away 1000
otherwise, it is 4100. i never got 5000 out of that
No I said take first of all 1000 and add 40. Which means "start with 1000 and add 40". Most people understood anyway
