Liverpool remain top of the Premiership after a narrow 1-0 victory at Derby County.

Michael Owen was gifted his 19th goal of the season early on after Derby keeper Mart Poom failed to hold Patrik Berger's shot.

Derby went close several times after the break as the Liverpool goal was peppered with shots.

And they missed a penalty when Jerzy Dudek saved Fabrizio Ravanelli's late spot-kick as Liverpool held out for three points.

Manchester United slumped to a 3-0 home defeat against Chelsea to leave the champions further behind the leaders.

Mario Melchiot headed Chelsea into an early lead to put Sir Alex Ferguson's side on the back foot.

Goals from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen rounded off an impressive Chelsea victory.

Arsenal's fine away form continued with a 2-0 victory at struggling Ipswich.

Arsene Wenger's side went ahead when Fredrik Ljungberg seized on Thierry Henry's pass to put the Gunners ahead after five minutes.

Henry netted the second himself from the penalty spot after Mark Venus brought down Ljungberg in the box.

Leicester City pulled off a shock 2-0 victory at Aston Villa.

Villa conceded only their fourth goal at home when Ade Akinbiyi put Leicester ahead after 12 minutes.

Dave Bassett's side doubled their advantage after the break through Jamie Scowcroft's first goal for the club.
