Well I'm a "Move in" on a buddy of mine and have been for several years. He needs the $, I need a place to stay and its worked out ok. I get to live in a decent house in a decent neighborhood, he gets rent money the taxman never hears about and we split the bills. We do get the occasional "homeless" friend for a week or two until they get a new place to stay. The rules are fairly simple- Dont rock the boat, do the dishes like anyone else, take your turn to cook a meal, etc. Its not hard to be courteous, some just make it hard on themselves.
