OMG, Larry, can I empathize! First of the year, a buddy of ours split from his wife (total bitch), needed a place to stay. No prob, we told him. Couple weeks later, his 'girl friend' was visiting (loonnnnngggggg story, but g/f was unrelated to the breakup), she lived a block away, so hubby (curse his moronic sweet little heart sometimes) said it would be ok if every
once in a while she could spend the night. In a week, she'd moved her stuff in without so much as a "can I", "would you mind", or anything! I mean overnight!
She worked as an in-home companion/nurse less than two blocks away and refused to walk to work, even to the point of making friend late to work himself to take her. One day she'd tell him she was madly in love w/him, the next that she couldn't stand him and she was a confirmed lesbian (and she is). Up and down.
Meanwhile, we found out I was pregnant. I ended up miscarrying and she was so insensitive that she would try to force me to watch "A Baby Story" on cable and would turn it up loudly so I couldn't even escape into another room. She never once lifted a finger to help around the house, even when I was on bedrest (to hopefully prevent the loss) or cook or anything then acted all bewildered when anyone said anything. Our son moved out of his bedroom to share his sister's room so they could have privacy (and get out of the computer room
) That room stank when they finally left.
Now this was only to be for a month or so. After the miscarriage and her subsequent behaviour, I told hubby they were to be out within the month or I'd personally put all their shit outside, regardless of the weather. He and I had spoken on this several times (and he's very easy going compared to me) and he was at the end of his rope, as well. By the time they left, it had been three months! And they still owe us 'rent'!
To top it all off, neither of them have a clue how much turmoil they (she mostly) caused! His daughter needed a place to stay with her boyfriend so went to them. They kicked them out after 3 *days*!!! Said they couldn't handle other people infringing upon their lives.
