Seeing that Sephi and Jacly have left the tavern and that they are quite alone, she replies ~ "Have I ever told you about my past, Larry? It is a long story..." ~ With that, she reveals her family history and all her contacts with her parents, in both physical and dream forms.

"I sense that Spree will eventually come after me for the part my father somehow played in the murder of her family. Perhaps I will not survive such an encounter... I only know that what is important is the present, and every second of it counts." ~ She gazes at him, her hands straightening the collar of his shirt ~ "I love you, Larry, with all my heart and soul... if I should die now, I would die the happiest woman on earth, for you have expressed your wish to marry me..." ~

Blinking back her tears, she continues ~ "If Maverick ever comes for you and I am still around, I will die for you if I have to." ~ Closing her eyes, she rests against his shoulders again ~ "Promise me that no matter what happens, you will be strong... and that you will live on, with or without me..." ~ Why does it hurt so much, thinking of the future? Why do I keep thinking of it, despite all that I say?...

She can say no more, and gives him such a tight embrace as to squeeze his breath out ~ This could well be one of our last chances to be together alone... ~ With that, the tears that she has tried so hard to avoid shedding since her return from her ancestral home begins to stream down her cheeks.
