Kivan was always a good NPC, even if he and Coran used to be the same person (and that can cause SO many identity crises). But I don't think he would romance Jaheira--SHE might be ready for a new lover when the old one isn't even cold yet, but Kivan has too much angst and bitterness to take a new sweetie for a few decades or so. Mutual respect, sure, but not a romance.

I just thought it'd be cool to have him survive, so many dialogue opportunities.
As for Jaheira and Kivan, I only think it's possible because they both have had loved ones die.
