Kronostia, do you *seriously* prefer FF to BG?

Cos im currently playing through FF8 and one thing is - it aint roleplay. You do what it says, when it says. At no point can you make any choices that effect the plot in even minor ways. And if Squall keeps up like this im going to get him killed. Except he cant die. What kind of RPG dosent let your characters die? (Aerie in FF7 dosent count, cos that was another forced plot point. And originaly you could bring her back, but it was cut for time or something)

Nothing you do has any effect. Oh and the much vaunted ability to roam the world at will - Given the situation at the time you finaly get a decent vehicle to do it in, it seems a bit daft. World in chaos, girlfriend in serious danger, all kinds of crap - but im going ot go off on a nice monster-hunting expedition?

Nah, when FF8 is finsihed it goes back on the shelf and I get into something with some replay value. Like BG for instance.
