Vampirism, family killings, curses, killing former friends, etc. don't appeal to you as plot twists?
Personal lives...
You can't have played the game without noticing the banter between your NPCs, the romances (which have SERIOUS character development in them - turning your whinging little elf girl into a proud mage or turning a black hearted Drow soft and gooey like butter) and the web of friends, alliances, contacts and enemies that abound in BG2.
