I am truly grateful that I don't see much in the way of weather like this. We do have hurricanes of course - I can remember 3 really bad ones - they often wing their way across the Atlantic - and the occasional tornado, but I would hate to live with this sort of thing as a matter of course.
Earthquakes too - I believe there have been 2 very minor quakes in the south of England in my entire lifetime - and the most recent one I didn't even notice - I probably just thought it was a tube train going underneath!!

Of course we have other worries here (ever heard a bomb go off? - I have, on a few occassions) but I do find natural phenomena more scary.
I guess you just get used to what you have to live with!
