Yes. Tell them to shaddup and fall back in line...then go kill a peasant and lower your rep by 5 if it goes too high.

Or you can have someone with no pickpocket skill try to steal from a merchant and have your rep go down that way (just make sure it's not a merchant you plan to deal with later on.)
