hmm, have you considered doing a Mage/Thief or a Fighter/Mage? those are very fun soloist guys.
and if you do a FT, remember to use Hide In Shadows ALOT and i recommend you to put proficencies into either Long Sword, Short Sword, Scimitar, Quarterstaff or Katana because you can backstab with them.
