The Tomes are invluded in the game, but there are no actual instances of them. You can use the CLUAConsole (Look it up at
www.tgeweb.com/ironworks, in the bg2 cheats section, cos its too tedious to explain here, the codes are BOOK01 .. BOOK06 if memory serves) or shadowkeeper (use google to find it, its a prog that allows you to edit your savegames) to get yourself one.
Alternatly it is possible to earn some stat increases in the end-game and with ToB installed it is possible to earn one point on each stat. I wont spoil it further unless you ask
