I like the synopsis of the romance that Nas'Greth posted, but I will NOT post a gigantic spoiler like that, nor do I want to provide a long, tedious list of what to do with the LoveTalk variables, etc. IS there just a simple patch (BaldurDash?) that will fix Jaheira without unneccessarily spoiling the newbie?

Well, in theory, ToB should fix the Jaheira bug, but in action people's feedback would seem to indicate otherwise. I don't know of any other patch that might fix this. You can try Baldurdash's site, I don't think it's been updated in months but you may find something there.
