Well, I've heard that at some point in time Edwin will keep nattering on at Minsc about Dynaheir until Minsc has had enough and then he opens up a can of whoop@$$ on Edwin. That may be random, or it may be time-oriented, so if you got to the endgame soon enough, the time variable may not have kicked in on that dialog.
