SPOILER
At some point in the game (I won't spoil it yet), you will be offered a choice to either teleport to a certain location directly or to go there by boat. If you decide to take the boat, you will be given a part of this legendary sword and the subquest to obtain the other piece will begin.
If you need any other spoilers, go ahead and ask them.
