Moiraine, yes there are uniquely Aussie terms words and phrases that differ from both British and American English.
Donut, I'd imagine it difficult, but expose to a foriegn countries media seems to facilitate comprehension of, rather than mimicry of the countries language. Singaporean English is very different to the thick southern Irish accent for example. I've actually had to translate English for English for my compatriot lecturers and another time a Spainiard when they couldn't understand "Singlish".
Azurewolf/Caleb, in Oz we call some types of candy/sweets/bonbons "lollies" too. A "lolly" is also an easy catch in cricket. A sitter.
