I posted this here and in another forum. Some one in the other forum suggested just that. Only I didn't know how to get Bad El Gato into my pocket. Some one later replied about talking to El Gato, which I didn't want to do becuase El Gato was being bad. The bing, light goes on and best punishment for el gato is pack.

Sorry to say this, but the only way to get your familiar in your backpack is by talking to him. There is a dialogue option on order to pick him up.
