While I haven't yet played the whole game through, I think you should be fine. Don't overlook Jaheira as a melee solution. I have a very mage heavy party myself. A Jester, Nalia, Imoen, Aerie, Jaheira and Mazzy. Mazzy alone can take care of most hand to hand situations, or I'll send in Jaheira first (she has the lowest AC in my group) and use her as a decoy while the bard and Mazzy go in and attack from the sides. But I'm in the underdark and haven't had any problems yet, and it sounds like you have a little more melee firepower than I do, so go for it.
