that's way back from when troika was still around and had already started the "jefferson" project.
i thot bethesda was starting from the ground up on FO3. not picking up where troika left off.
The confusion...

Jefferson was code name for Baldur's Gate 3 that Black Isle (a part of Interplay) was developing. Van Buren was the code name for Fallout 3 while under developement by Black Isle. Troika, being a wholly separate company even if founded by former Interplay people, had noting to do with these. Both games were changelled when Interplay ran out of money and practically ceased to function. This also led to forming of Obsidian Entertainment by some former Black Isle people.

Then Iterplay sold rights to next Fallout to Bethesda. Part of confusion stems form that Troika had a post apocalyptic rpg of their own under works, and were apparetly also bidding for the Fallout license (obiviously they didn't get it). Bethesda has told next to nothing of Fallout 3, but they do have stated they will start fresh.

InExile nor Bioware have nothing to do with any of this.
